An-30 Aircraft with 7 People on Board Disappears in Eastern Siberia

Russian source confirmed on Wednesday the disappearance of an An-30 aircraft from radar screens in the Republic of Sakha, "Yakutia" in eastern Siberia.

The source added that the aircraft was carrying 7 people on board, while the searching operation is underway.

Rescuers later discovered the plane around 70 km away from the Village of Olenek, TASS reported, citing the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations as three persons of the seven on-board were injured after the aircraft made a hard landing in Russia’s Far Eastern Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), officials said.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation announced that an An-2 plane with 3 people on board disappeared from radar in Yakutia, eastern Russia.

According to the Russia Today website, the Local Emergency Management said in a statement that it had received this morning information that a plane belonging to a private company had taken off from the Yakutsk republic’s capital, had not reached its destination on time.

The statement added that, according to preliminary information, there were three people on board the plane, including two crew members and a passenger.

 

The local company, “Polarne Avialinie”, said that an An-26 aircraft with a team of rescuers on board, took off to search for the missing plane.
