Egyptian actor Amr Saad provided Wednesday a new update on his long-awaited film "Al Ghorban" (The Crows).
"The film will feature Egyptian, German, Russian, and English stars and is set to hit theatres in 2025," he wrote on Instagram.
The pic's previously announced cast includes Abdulaziz Makhyoun, Safaa El-Toukhi, Ahmed Bedier, Gamil Barsoum, Mahmoud El Bezzawy, Maged El Masry, Asma Abulyazeid, Mai Omar, and Mohamed Alaa.
Saad previously noted that the pic presents an Egyptian superhero just like the Americans.
"The Americans serve their culture and country by presenting the American fighter or superhero and we will be presenting an Egyptian superhero designed in a way that is in our interest," he said.
The project is comparable to Hollywood films in terms of the idea and shooting, especially the action and war scenes.
Written and directed by Yassin Hassan, "Al Ghorban" depicts the Battle of Rommel or the First Battle of el-Alamein, which lasted throughout July 1942 during World War II in Egypt.
The battle ended in a crushing defeat for the Germans after months of hit-and-run tactics.
The film has been in development hell for years. It has been shooing for three years, including in a snow-covered Russian region before the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
At one point, the producing company created a movie set of El Alamein city in the Fayoum, at a cost of about $12 million.
Principal photography is expected to wrap shooting in mid-November.
"Al Ghorban" is also set to be dubbed into 7 global languages and translated into 12.
