English Premier League side Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim provided a clarification about his latest meeting with the club's co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, on Friday.
Amorim said that his latest meeting with Sir Ratcliffe was not a crisis meeting, despite a disappointing start to the season.
Man United collected only four points from their four Premier League matches and suffered a League Cup exit at the hands of fourth-tier Grimsby.
Since taking charge in November, Amorim won only eight of his 31 Premier League games.
However, the former Sporting Lisbon manager said that Sir Ratcliffe asserted that the club remains committed to a long-term project.
"A new contract?" Amorim joked when asked about the meeting. "No, it is normal things, just to show the support and explaining that it is a long project."
Last season, United finished 15th in the Premier League which is their lowest top-flight finish since 1973–74.
They also failed short of Champions League qualification after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham.
Despite these struggles, Amorim emphasized that United are improving and need to be more clinical in key moments.
"This is football at the club with maybe more pressure in the world, but we want to win," he said.
"I think last year I was very critical of the way we play. I think we are playing well until the boxes; defending and attacking, we need to be more aggressive in the boxes. We need to be more clinical."
United will host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday.
