FIFA has appointed an Egyptian refereeing team to officiate the FIFA World Cup 2026 group-stage clash between Argentina and Austria in Philadelphia.
The match, scheduled for June 20, will be overseen by Egyptian international referee Amin Omar, who will be assisted by Mahmoud Abou El Regal and Ahmed Hossam Taha.
Alejandro Hernandez will serve as the fourth official, while Diego Sanchez has been appointed reserve assistant referee.
The appointment marks another significant milestone for Egyptian officiating at the tournament.
Amin Omar was previously part of the refereeing crew for the Group Stage match between South Korea and Czechia, while Mahmoud Abou El Regal served as reserve assistant referee during Norway’s encounter with Iraq.
In a separate appointment, FIFA's Referees Committee selected Egyptian official Mahmoud Ashour as Assistant Video Assistant Referee (AVAR) for Brazil’s Group Stage match against Haiti.
The Argentina-Austria fixture will take place at Philadelphia Stadium in the United States as part of the second round of Group Stage matches at the FIFA World Cup 2026, currently being hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
