Canada international Alphonso Davies, the left-back of Bayern Munich, suffered another injury setback during his team’s 6–1 victory over Atalanta BC in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday, according to a report by Bild.
Davies entered the match at halftime as a substitute for Konrad Laimer, but was unable to complete the game.
The Canadian defender left the pitch after about 70 minutes following a non-contact injury, appearing to be in significant pain and leaving the field in tears.
The 25-year-old had only recently returned to action in December after a lengthy absence caused by an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
He also missed Bayern’s last two matches in the Bundesliga due to a muscle fiber tear in his thigh.
Bayern Munich are expected to release an official medical statement to determine the severity of Davies’ latest injury.
Meanwhile, teammates Jamal Musiala and Jonas Urbig also picked up injuries during Tuesday’s encounter against Atalanta, adding to the Bavarian club’s growing list of fitness concerns.
