AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly asked the club’s management to pursue the signing of Liverpool defender Joe Gomez during the current January transfer window.

According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Allegri has rejected a proposal to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Drăgușin, who joined the Premier League club from Genoa in January 2024 for €25 million.

Despite his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury, Drăgușin has struggled for regular playing time, and Allegri is said to have ruled out the move.

The report added that Milan are seeking an experienced centre-back, preferably one with prior experience in Serie A, to reinforce their defensive line.

Allegri reportedly believes Gomez fits the profile required to strengthen the Rossoneri’s backline.

In addition to the Liverpool defender, Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti remains under consideration as a potential alternative, with Milan continuing to assess multiple options.

Meanwhile, AC Milan are preparing for a high-profile Serie A clash against Roma on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico in round 22 of the season.

The Rossoneri currently sit second in the league standings with 46 points, trailing leaders Inter Milan, who top the table with 52 points.
