The vicinity of Saladin Citadel has undergone significant development in Cairo, where new hotel structures are being erected in the Arab al-Yassar area following its demolition and the compensation of its residents. Additionally, there are plans to replace the Sayyida Aisha Bridge with a new one that will connect to the axis of civilizations, as part of the broader development initiatives currently underway in the entire square.

The area surrounding the citadel has transformed into a visually appealing space after the completion of the development project, which has been designed in the style of Islamic architecture to harmonize with the citadel's form, including its domes, minarets, mosques, and historical edifices.

Along the side of Sayyida Aisha Square, two-story shops, tourist bazaars, and hotel buildings have been established, complemented by the creation of green spaces, fountains, restaurants, and cafes to enhance the area's appeal to tourists, along with parking facilities.

A two-story hotel has also been constructed, featuring 82 rooms distributed across the ground and first floors, covering a total area of 4,400 square meters, while ensuring that the castle wall remains unaffected. This hotel is set at a safe distance from the castle grounds, separated from modern structures by green spaces, trees, and pergolas.

The construction of a dining and café area has been finalized, comprising 20 restaurants and cafes, each with an average area of 45 square meters.

Additionally, various shops, including bazaars and gift shops, are being built, totaling 16 shops with an average area of 45 square meters each. All buildings are designed in the Islamic architectural style to align with the citadel's form and the surrounding heritage structures, with the project being executed under the supervision of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority in collaboration with the Cairo Governorate.
