Alisson Scoops Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper Award

Liverpool's goalkeeper Alisson Becker followed the footsteps of his coach Jurgen Klopp by being chosen as the Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper of the Year 2019.

FIFA is currently holding a glittering ceremony in Milan for prestigious accolades of the 2019 Best FIFA Football Awards.

Alisson saw off competition from his Premier League rival Ederson, who is the keeper of Manchester City, and Barcelona's keeper Ter Stegen as they competed to win prestigious accolade which recognizes the best male goalkeeper over the last 12 months.

The Brazilian international was ruled out from Liverpool's squad due to his calf injury.

The twenty-six year old player made an impressive performance with the Reds in his debut season as he led his team to claim the Champions League and finish second in the Premier League.

The Reds’ First-choice keeper suffered a calf injury against Norwich City in the opening match of the Premier League and was replaced by summer signing Adrian. Earlier, Jurgen Klopp was selected as the Best FIFA Men’s Coach of the Year 2019.

Both guided the Reds to lift the Uefa Champions League title after defeating Tottenham in the final with unanswered two goals.

The 52-year-old manager led the Reds to achieve the perfect Premier League start as they pulled off six victories over Norwich City, Southampton, Arsenal, Burnley, Newcastle United, and Chelsea, attaining the Premier League leadership.
