Ali Olwan made history by scoring Jordan’s first-ever goal in World Cup history during their 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage match against Austria national football team.
The goal came in the 50th minute with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area, leveling the match at 1–1 after Austria had taken the lead through a long-range effort from Romano Schmid in the 23rd minute.
Jordan are competing in a tough group that also includes Argentina and Algeria.
The tournament continues under its expanded 48-team format, with the 2026 edition featuring 104 matches and a new round of 32 in the knockout stage.
