Algeria's President Tebboune to Start 2-Day Visit to Egypt Tomorrow

On Sunday, the Algerian presidency announced that the country's President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, will pay a two-day official visit to Egypt starting tomorrow Monday.

In a statement, the presidency stated that "Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, embarks on a two-day official visit to Egypt, starting from Monday, January 24, 2022."

Notably, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, on January 17, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ramtane Lamamra, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sameh Shoukry.

El-Sisi welcomed the Algerian Foreign Minister in Egypt. The President asked for his greetings to be conveyed to his brother, Algerian President and lauded the prominent levels of the brotherly relations between the two countries.

President El-Sisi confirmed Egypt's keenness on further advancing frameworks of cooperation at various levels, by activating joint bilateral committees to promote relations toward broader prospects, in line with the profound fraternal bonds between the two countries and peoples.

Lamamra delivered a letter to President El-Sisi from Algerian President Tebboune, underlining Algeria's pride in its close and distinguished relations with Egypt, at the official and popular levels. In his letter, the Algerian President also stressed his county’s interest to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Egypt in various fields.

President Tebboune is looking forward to further enhancing coordination and consultation with President El-Sisi during the coming period, in order to counter the various challenges facing the region and the Arab nation, and reinforce joint Arab action.

The meeting tackled ways to foster closer bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of holding the next session of the Joint Higher Committee at the level of the two countries’ prime ministers during the current year.

The importance of holding the next session of the political consultation mechanism at the level of the two foreign ministers was also highlighted. This aims to enhance efforts toward boosting relations between the two countries, and strengthening frameworks of cooperation and coordination on all issues of common interest in order to achieve stability, security, cooperation and solidarity.
