Algeria detects two COVID-19 variant cases

On Friday, the medical authorities in Algeria announced detecting two cases of the COVID-19 strain that emerged in the UK.

Health Minister Abderrahmane Benbouzid expressed that in case discovering any case carrying the mutated strain, it will receive suitable treatment.

The state has received 200,000 Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses as a gift from China on Wednesday.

It was the biggest COVID-19 vaccine doses shipment that arrived in the country after two 50,000 shipments of the Sputnik V and AstraZeneca vaccines.

Last January, the state started a national coronavirus vaccination campaign after receiving 1st shipment of the Russian anti-COVID vaccine ‘Sputnik V’.

The first dose of the vaccine was received by an Algerian female dentist in Blida province, southwest of Algiers.

In press statements, she expressed happiness after receiving the vaccine, calling on all citizens to get vaccinated against Coronavirus without fear.
