Algeria and Austria secured their places in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 after battling to a dramatic 3-3 draw in their final Group J match at Kansas City Stadium.

The thrilling contest saw both teams exchange goals throughout the match before a last-gasp Austrian equalizer ensured that both nations advanced to the knockout stage.

Austria opened the scoring in the 28th minute through veteran striker Marko Arnautović, who calmly finished past goalkeeper Osama Benbot after racing through on goal.

Algeria responded just before halftime when Rafik Belghali weaved past the Austrian defense and fired home a powerful strike in the 45th minute to level the score.

Marcel Sabitzer restored Austria's advantage in the 55th minute with a superb long-range effort from the edge of the penalty area. Algeria hit back five minutes later as Riyad Mahrez converted Houssem Aouar's precise pass to make it 2-2.

The drama intensified deep into stoppage time when Mahrez appeared to have completed a memorable comeback by scoring Algeria's third goal in the 93rd minute.

However, Austria produced one final response in the dying seconds, grabbing a dramatic equalizer that sealed qualification for both sides.

The result leaves Austria second in Group J with four points, while Algeria also finishes on four points in third place, doing enough to progress to the Round of 32.

Argentina topped the group with a perfect nine points, while Jordan exited the tournament without earning a point.
