Alexandria Film Festival to Honor Donia Samir Ghanem

The Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries, headed by film critic Amir Abaza, will honor Egyptian singer-actress, Donia Samir Ghanem, in the 38th edition, which is scheduled to take place from October 5- 10.

Ghanem will be honored during the opening ceremony of the festival at the great hall of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

The festival is an annual event held in Alexandria, Egypt, and aims to disseminate film culture and the progress achieved in various branches of film art and to strengthen the relations among filmmakers around the globe in general and Mediterranean countries in particular.

The actress was born on January 1, 1985, to an artistic family; she is the daughter of renowned actor Samir Ghanem and actress Dalal Abdulaziz; her sister, Amal— known as Amy— is also an actress.

Ghanem’s talents appeared when she was a child, participating in school plays and shows.

The actress made her acting debut in 2001’s TV series “Leladala Wogouh Katheera” (Justice has many faces).

In 2005, Ghanem made her first film appearance in renowned comedy actor Mohamed Henedi’s film “Ya Ana Ya Khalty”.

She released her first song “Farh el Sen” in 2010.

In 2015, she was a judge on season 4 of “The X Factor” Arabia version along with Lebanese singers Elissa and Ragheb Alama.

Ghanem is best known for her work on the television shows “Leladala Wogouh Katheera”, “El Kabeer Awy”, “Lahfa”, “Nelly and Sherihan”, “In Lala Land”, and “badal el hadouta 3”.

She is also known for her roles in films “El-Farah”, “You Fly”, “Ezbet Adam”, “La Taragoa Wala Esteslam”, “X-Large”, “365 Days of Happiness”, and “Laf W Dawaran”.
