Culture Min., Alexandria Governor Inaugurate Alexandria Book Fair

Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, and Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, inaugurated Alexandria Book Fair, which is held from 1 to 10 October in the land of "Kouta".

The ceremonies were attended by: Dr. Haitham Al-Hajj Ali, the head of the Egyptian General Book Authority, an array of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture and the executive leaders of the governorate.

Abdel Dayem said that Alexandria Book Fair is the first event to be held in the Arab and African countries; the second event to be held in the world- after Moscow International Book Fair following Corona pandemic.

The minister said that reading plays a major role in acquiring knowledge and it has a pivot role in shaping and building societies.

On the other hands, the minister invited the youth and young people of Alexandria and the governorates of the Delta to visit this fair to acquire and review the latest publications in various fields of knowledge - sold at low prices starting from one pound, stressing the total commitment to precautionary measures to defeat Corona virus.

It is worth noting that this book fair is being held on an area of 4,200 square meters, with the participation of 95 publishing houses in addition to the various sectors of the Ministry of Culture, including: the Egyptian General Book Authority - which is the organizer of the fair.

The pavilions of the fair includes: 1725 titles of the latest publications of the book authority in various cultural and scientific fields , 100 publications from the Family Library, in addition to the participation of the Supreme Council for Culture, the General organization of Cultural Palaces, the National Center for Translation, the Cultural Development Fund, the National Library and Archives, the Academy of Arts, the National Center for Child Culture , the Library of Alexandria, Dar Al Maaref and Al-Ahram foundations.

It is noteworthy that the measures of organizing the book fair are based on the commitment to apply all precautionary measures to confront Coronavirus.

The measures include measuring temperatures, self-sterilization gates, wearing medical masks, respecting social distances, with the presence of a preventive medical team to apply the safety measures.
