Spanish reports in Spain suggest that Trent Alexander-Arnold could be heading for an early exit from Real Madrid, with Manchester City closely monitoring his situation.

The England international joined the Spanish giants last summer on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Liverpool. However, his playing time has been limited, featuring in just seven matches under Xabi Alonso so far.

The full-back’s opportunities have further decreased with Dani Carvajal returning to full fitness.

According to CaughtOffside, Manchester City remain interested in Alexander-Arnold as they look for a long-term successor to veteran right-back Kyle Walker.

City had previously explored signing the defender and may return with a strong offer in the January transfer window if his situation at the Bernabéu does not improve.

A potential move to City would come as a major blow to Liverpool supporters, many of whom are still coming to terms with his departure from Anfield.

Joining their Premier League rivals would only add to the sense of frustration among the Reds’ fanbase.

Spanish reports warn that Alexander-Arnold’s stint in Madrid could be far shorter than expected, leaving his future finely balanced between fighting for his place at Real or returning to England in the colours of City.
