Alaa's Brace Leads Zamalek to 3-1 Win Over Tanta

Mahmoud Alaa netted twice to guide Zamalek to a 3-1 victory over Tanta to boost their chances in securing the second spot in the Egyptian Premier League.

Zamalek had given a penalty in the 42 due to a handball on Tanta's defender, before the referee reviewed the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to cancel it.

In the 1st half's injury time, the referee awarded the White Knights another penalty, but Mahmoud Alaa wasted it, following a great save by Tanta's keeper.

Three minutes after the beginning of the 2nd half, Mahmoud Alaa put Zamalek ahead after he powered home with a powerful header.

Tanta came close to equalize the scoring in the 58th following a powerful shot, saved by Abu Gabel.

Alaa doubled his side's lead in the 71st minute, when he converted from a penalty spot.

The referee decided another penalty for the Whites, before consulting the VAR to cancel his decision, giving Zamalek reviewed the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to cancel it.

Tanta returned to the game again in the 89th minute when Mahmoud Masoud scored a goal through a header.

Imam Ashour sealed the victory in the injury time when he was on one-to-one position to score the third goal.
