Al Sadd SC advanced to the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League Elite after a dramatic victory over Al Hilal SFC on penalties following a 3-3 draw in regular time.

The match, held at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium, delivered a six-goal spectacle filled with twists and momentum shifts.

Al Hilal opened the scoring in the 29th minute through Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, before Claudinho equalized for Al Sadd in the 36th minute to end the first half at 1-1.

The second half saw even more drama, as Salem Al-Dawsari restored Al Hilal’s lead in the 55th minute. Just three minutes later, Roger Martinez brought Al Sadd level again in the 58th minute.

In the 67th minute, Brazilian forward Marcos Leonardo put Al Hilal ahead for the third time, but Al Sadd responded quickly as Roberto Firmino scored the equalizer in the 71st minute, making it 3-3.

With no winner after regular time, the match went to extra time, which failed to produce another goal, sending the contest to a penalty shootout.

Al Sadd held their nerve from the spot, converting four penalties, while Al Hilal managed only two, sealing qualification for the Qatari side into the quarter-finals of the competition.
