Al Masry SC claimed a valuable victory over hosts ZESCO United in the match held at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia, as part of the second round of the group stage of the 23rd edition of the CAF Confederation Cup, winning 3–2.
Mohamed Hashem opened the scoring for Al Masry in the 4th minute, before the hosts equalised in the 6th minute.
Algerian winger Mondher Tamine later restored Al Masry’s lead with goals in the 24th and 68th minutes, before Peter Musokoma scored ZESCO’s second goal in the 87th minute.
With this victory, Al Masry have achieved the first-ever win for an Egyptian club on Zambian soil against a local Zambian team.
This win keeps Al Masry firmly at the top of Group D with 6 points, followed by Zamalek with 3 points.
Kaizer Chiefs sit third with no points, while ZESCO United remain bottom of the group, also without points.
