Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki, said that resorting to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is a very important step, commenting: “For years we have been seriously thinking about how to benefit from such a move until we reached a stage where we felt that there was sufficient support for such a move.
He added, during his interview with the “Special Dialogue” program, with the media anchor, Reham Al-Sahli, on the “Extra News” space channel, on Wednesday evening, that international law gives some privileges to the occupying state, if there is an occupation of another land in a specific period.
He stated that Israel moved from the stage of occupation to the stage of colonialism, and established a different system parallel to the system that exists for the Palestinian people under its occupation, which gives a privilege to colonial settlers at the expense of the Palestinians.
Al-Maliki explained that this system is discriminatory and an apartheid system.
He added that this point convinced many countries to request an advisory opinion from the ICJ on this system, whether is it an occupation regime, and if it is an occupation regime that has lost its legality, a colonial regime, or an apartheid regime.
