Football fans’ attention will turn on Monday evening to Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, where Al Hilal will take on Al Ahli in a high-profile clasico clash at the top of Round 20 of the Saudi Pro League.
Historically, Al Hilal hold the upper hand in league meetings between the two sides.
The teams have faced each other 33 times in the Saudi Pro League, with Al Hilal winning 16 matches, Al Ahli claiming five victories, and 12 encounters ending in draws.
Al Hilal have scored 59 goals in those fixtures, compared to 36 for Al Ahli, according to Saudi newspaper Al-Midan Al-Riyadi.
Al Hilal currently sit at the top of the league table with 46 points after recording 14 wins and four draws.
Despite their strong position, the reigning leaders have shown a slight dip in form in their last two matches, dropping four points and allowing rivals to close the gap.
The team will be aiming to return to winning ways, extend their lead, and preserve their unbeaten record this season.
Al Ahli, meanwhile, arrive in Riyadh in impressive form, having secured eight consecutive victories that have firmly reinserted them into the title race.
The Jeddah-based side will be targeting a ninth straight win to draw level on points with the league leaders, or at least secure a draw to maintain pressure at the top of the standings.
