Sudan’s Al Hilal claimed a crucial 2–1 victory over South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
The match was played at Amahoro Stadium in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, where Al Hilal delivered a strong performance to secure three vital points in their bid for qualification.

Jean Claude doubled the advantage shortly after the restart, finding the net in the 49th minute.
Sundowns responded through Arthur Sales, who pulled one back in the 61st minute, but the South African side were unable to find an equalizer.
With the win, Al Hilal moved to the top of the group with eight points, while Mamelodi Sundowns slipped to second place with five points.
The encounter was officiated by an Egyptian refereeing team led by international referee Mahmoud Nagi, assisted by Samir Gamal and Ahmed Tawfik on the sidelines, with Mahmoud Bassiouni serving as fourth official.
Eritrean official Angesom Ogbarem acted as match commissioner, while Rwandan Jules Karangwa was appointed as the CAF general coordinator for the round.
The CAF Champions League has followed a group-stage format in the round of 16 since 2017, with the 16 qualified teams divided into four groups of four.
The top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals, which are played in a knockout format, with group winners hosting the second-leg matches.
