Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif reminded the whole world of one of the worst memories in modern human history, the 76th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba and the Israeli Declaration of Establishment on the land of Palestine.

This anniversary coincides with the Israeli intensified terrorist aggression against the Gaza Strip and the attempt to besiege it and isolate it from the world. It would be no exaggeration to say that the Zionists are attempting to wipe Gaza off the world maps and history, by closing all crossings and stopping the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid. The scenes of the killing of children, women, and the elderly, the displacement of innocents, and the targeting of refugees bring back to memory the earlier scenes of the first Nakba in 1948, evoking the magnitude of the disaster that befell the people of Palestine.

On this day, Al-Azhar reminds all that Israel has usurped the historic land of Palestine, displaced the Palestinians, and forced them to leave their land and homes through vicious terrorism and amidst abhorrent international silence; “we’ve seen it all before.” Israel is still following in the footsteps of their ancestors, in an aggression that has destroyed humans and property. They killed tens of thousands, and destroyed cities, neighborhoods, places of worship, and hospitals, forcing more than two million people to flee, in full view of the international community. However, the international community still condones the most basic rights of the Palestinian people, i.e. to live in peace on their land.

Al-Azhar holds the international community accountable for the consequences of the current situation, which could lead to a second Nakba for the people who refused to leave their land and preferred to die on their soil. Through their sublime steadfastness, the Palestinians are making history in the face of a terrorist state whose evil and ugly face has been exposed to the world. So, Al-Azhar reiterates its call to conscientious people, youth and elders, of the world to show more steadfastness in the face of this terrorist entity and resist its crimes that are denounced by the entire world.
