Senior officials participating in the Sheikh Zayed Award for Human Fraternity jury session held a meeting on 9 December with His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmad Muhammad Al-Tayeb. The discussions focused on the Award’s mission and the urgent need to reinforce global efforts that promote peace, mutual understanding, and the protection of human dignity. Participants emphasized preserving and advancing the principles of the Declaration on Human Fraternity and supporting initiatives that encourage cooperation and respect among nations and communities.
During their visit, the delegation also toured Al-Azhar Mosque, one of the world’s oldest and most influential centers of Islamic learning.
A day earlier, on 8 December, another meeting in Cairo brought together His Eminence the Grand Imam and representatives from Uzbekistan. Warm greetings were delivered on behalf of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, underscoring the strong bonds between Uzbekistan and Egypt. Discussions centered on expanding cooperation in spiritual, academic, and educational fields, particularly in promoting enlightened Islamic thought and shielding young people from the dangers of extremism.
Both sides expressed interest in furthering joint programs, academic exchanges, and manuscript research, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering scholarly collaboration and strengthening cultural ties.
