At Al-Azhar in Cairo, a new generation of young Quran memorizers was honored in a high-profile ceremony celebrating excellence in recitation and memorization, following a nationwide competition that drew wide participation from under-18 contestants.
The event was organized in cooperation with the World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates and the Abou El-Enein Foundation, part of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work. Winners were selected after a series of demanding assessments that tested both precise memorization and adherence to recitation rules, highlighting the exceptional standards achieved by participants.
The ceremony brought together leading academic and public figures, including Dr. Fayrouz Abou El-Enein, Vice Chair of the foundation; Dr. Ibrahim El-Hodhod, former President of Al-Azhar University; and Dr. Abdel Dayem Nossair, Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars. Officials and organizers commended the discipline and commitment shown by the participants, stressing the importance of nurturing young talent and reinforcing values through education.
The Abou El-Enein Foundation reaffirmed its long-standing role in supporting Quran memorizers across Egypt and among international students at Al-Azhar, reflecting a broader commitment to education and character development under the leadership of Mohamed Abou El-Enein.
Participants described the competition as a powerful source of motivation, encouraging them to continue refining their memorization and deepening their connection to their studies.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards and certificates in a celebratory atmosphere, marking a moment of pride for families and organizers alike, and underscoring the enduring role of Al-Azhar as a center for learning and cultural heritage.
