Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed el-Tayeb met Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Saleh bin Eid Al-Husseini to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between Al-Azhar and religious institutions in Saudi Arabia.
El-Tayeb said relations between Al-Azhar and Saudi Arabia are longstanding, with continued coordination needed to address challenges facing the Islamic world. He also reiterated Al-Azhar’s condemnation of attacks targeting civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries.
The Saudi ambassador expressed appreciation for Al-Azhar’s role in promoting moderation and peace, and discussed regional developments and prospects for expanding cooperation in religious and academic fields.
