Al-Azhar Conference And Its Optimistic Expectations

I remember President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s warm remarks full of good feelings about Al-Azhar and its sheikh, Grand Imam Ahmad Al-Tayyib who earned President El Sisi’s confidence.

Two years ago, President Sisi pointed out to the statistics of the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS), particularly those related to porce rates in Egypt, which, as he said at that time, reached 44%. This figure sheds light on the escalation of porce problem facing Egyptian society in the recent period.

I am waiting for Al-Azhar conference which will be chaired by Grand Imam Sheikh  Al-Tayyib next Tuesday. We all know that the axes of Al-Azhar conferences are selected very precisely in order to come up with recommendations appropriate to the prestige of Al-Azhar Al Sharif, its historical role in protecting the Egyptian state and its great sheikh, who is the most prominent advocate of tolerance in the world.

This conference will be held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with the participation of a group of prominent scholars, leaders and prominent political and religious figures in the world.

The responsibilities are enormous due to the challenges facing Egypt. The conference aims at the renewal of religious discourse, correcting misconceptions in addition to discussing issues of citizenship, personal status and banking transactions, as well as the renewal of humanities science, ways to prepare a conscious Islamic preacher, mechanisms of renewing the religious discourse, language sciences, Qur’an and Sunnah, and the principles of Fiqh in addition to medical, political and security issues and refuting destructive ideas of the terrorist organization ISIS.

The conference will also focus on social and family affairs, including social justice, eliminating poverty, women's rights, the new Al-Azhar draft of personal status law, and its emphasis on the dangers resulting from porce and family separation.

The conference will discuss customary marriage, marital life, physical and moral education, compulsory education and emphasizes that the national language is the basis of identity.

Thank you, Dr. Al Tayyib, for your vigilance that gives us hope and confidence in the ability of our ancient institutions to protect and secure our internal and social front from the threat of extremist organizations and resist the currents of terrorist extremism.

We will never forget the footage that featured Grand Imam, Dr. Al-Tayyib with Pope Francis, and the multiple meetings that gathered the two international religious symbols, the last of which was during their participation in the Conference of Human Fraternity, held in UAE , and signing tolerance document or the document of human Fraternity after laying the foundation stone for building Sheikh Al-Tayyib mosque and St. Francis Church.

Finally, I hope that Al Azhar conference would solve the problems of more than 9 million abandoned children directly and 15 million ones indirectly.
