Al-Azhar has strongly denounced the recent attacks on several churches in eastern Pakistan, asserting its categorical rejection of such reprehensible acts. The institution emphasizes that the Holy Quran, which some extremists desecrate in light of the apathy of certain governments, unequivocally commands the preservation of places of worship for both Muslims and non-Muslims, forbidding any form of aggression against them. The offenders who targeted the churches committed an atrocity comparable to those who dishonored the Holy Quran. Both actions are crimes condemned by religions, sacred scriptures, human norms, and moral values.

While condemning these barbaric criminal actions, Al-Azhar underscores the urgent need to prosecute all extremists who assault the Holy Quran, churches, and other places of worship. The institution advocates for the implementation of comprehensive legislative, legal, and security measures to ensure the protection of people's sanctities and their worship sites. Such protective actions would deter any form of aggression that incites discord and fuels sentiments of intolerance and hatred.

Al-Azhar further urges all to embrace reason and dialogue, turning to the benevolence of divine laws that promote acceptance of others. It calls for the propagation of tolerance and human brotherhood among all individuals, aiming to instill a culture of peace among nations.
