Al Ahly's clash against Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League is now on tenterhooks after Sudan closed its airspace on Tuesday.
The Sudanese authorities closed Sudan's airspace following gunfire, which rang out at two buildings used by Sudan's general intelligence service in the capital Khartoum.
Alarabiya channel reported on Tuesday that flights at Khartoum International Airport were suspended.
Following the gunfire, Sudan's general intelligence service said that it had sacked some employees, who were unhappy with the severance package they were offered, according to Reuters.
As a result of the above-mentioned, both Arab clubs' encounter in the last round of the group stage at the Champions League are in suspense as it is scheduled to be held on February, 1 in Sudan.
The CAF regulation provides that the venue of the match must be announced ten days before the actual date of the encounter. Both clubs were drawn in Group B, alongside Étoile Sportive du Sahel and Platinum.
Étoile Sportive du Sahel are now topping the group table with nine minutes, followed by Al Ahly (2nd), Al Hilal (3rd), and Platinum (4th).
