On Friday, Al Ahly had a 0-0 draw with CR Belouizdad in the game that took place at 5 July 1962 Stadium in Algeria. The game was part of the group stage of the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League.

With this draw, Al Ahly retained the lead of their group with 6 points, followed by the Algerian team with 5 points.

This game was the first of the Al Ahly team in more than 50 days and the team suffered from several injuries for some of the major names like Mohamed El Shenawy, Percy Tau, and Aliou Dieng.

During the first half, both teams had competitive performances, however, the Algerian team successfully built up strong pressure over the title holders.

Shortly, Al Ahly's Taher Mohamed Taher was so close to stunning the nets of CR Belouizdad but he failed.

The Algerians managed to make use of Al Ahly's faults and threatened the nets of the Egyptians several times, but none of them hit the nets.

The strong attempts of CR Belouizdad continued in the second half, but Mostafa Shoubier did a good performance to keep the nets clean.

In the final twenty minutes, Marcel Koller, Al Ahly's coach, did some substitutes that sparked some powers in the team. Afsha, Reda Selim, and Karim Fouad took the field instead of Akram Tawfik, Hussein El Shahat, and Taher Mohamed Taher.

In addition, Amr El Sollia, and Kahraba entered the field in the final minutes of the game instead of Emam Ashour, and Anthony Modeste.

But, both teams failed to score.
