Al Ahly are set to face JS Kabylie at the Hussein Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou tonight. The match is part of Matchday 5 of the CAF Champions League group stage.

Al Ahly face one of their toughest challenges yet: winning in Algeria in the CAF Champions League. The Egyptian giants have not won on Algerian soil since 2005, when they defeated USM Alger in the Round of 16.

Since that victory, Al Ahly have played eight matches against Algerian clubs away from home in the Champions League, resulting in five draws and three defeats. Their most notable recent setback came in 2015, when they lost the CAF Super Cup in Algeria to ES Sétif on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Al Ahly last appeared in the group stage with a 1-1 away draw against Young Africans, while JS Kabylie suffered a 1-0 defeat to Moroccan side FAR Rabat in the previous round.

Al Ahly currently lead Group B with 8 points, followed by Young Africans in second place with 5 points, and FAR Rabat also with 5 points. JS Kabylie sit at the bottom of the group with 2 points.

Tonight’s clash offers Al Ahly a historic opportunity to end their 21-year winless streak in Algeria and strengthen their bid to advance to the knockout stages of Africa’s premier club competition.
