Ahmed Helmy Returns to Stage after 19 Years

Egyptian actor Ahmed Helmy is returning to stage with a major untitled production after 19 years of absence.

Helmy made his first and last theatrical appearance in the 2001 play ″Hakeem Eyon″ co-starring Alaa Waley El Din and Karim Abdel Aziz.

Veteran Egyptian director Khaled Galal, honored the actor last Monday, at the Artistic Creativity Center of the Egyptian Opera House.

Galal, who is also the director of "Cinema Masr" play, gave Helmy a certificate of appreciation signed by all the actors of the show – bearing the title "To Those Who Live to Last ", after watching the theatrical production "Cinema Masr".

The veteran director met with the actor and approached him with the idea of the production, to which he agreed immediately.

The production will be directed by Galal. It will also star Mahmoud Hafez and ‎Mohamed El Sharnouby.

Moreover, Helmy is preparing for a new movie, as well as a new TV series, which he plans to participate in the Ramadan 2021 drama marathon with.

The actor’s latest artistic work is the 2019 film, “Khayal Maata”.

It also stars Menna Shalaby, Khaled El Sawy, Bayoumi Fouad, Entsar, Samy Maghawry, Mahmoud El-Lisy, Yasser El Tobgy, Hassan Hosny, Lotfy Labib, Abdelrahman Abo Zahra, Rashwan Tawfek, and more.

The film is penned by Abdul Rahim Kamal and directed by Khaled Marei.

It is worth mentioning that Helmy, born on November 18, 1969, in Banha, Qalyubia Governorate, is an Egyptian comedian, actor, film producer, television presenter, author, and television personality.

He started his career in 1993 on the Egyptian Satellite Broadcast, and made his acting debut in the 1998 acclaimed film “Aboud Ala El Hodoud” (Aboud on the Borders), co-starring with Alaa Waley El Din, and Karim Abdel Aziz.

Thereafter, Helmy quickly made a jump to leading roles in films such as “Omar 2000”, “El Nazer” (The Headmaster), “El Selem We Al Tho’ban” (Snakes And Ladders).

He is best known for his roles in films such as “Aboud Ala El Hodoud” (1999), “El Nazer” (2000), “Leh Khaltne Ahebk” (2000), “55 Essaf”(2001), “El Sellem Wel Teban” (2001), “Rehlet Hob” (2001), “Sahar el Layali” (2003), “Mido Mashakel” (2003), “Sayee Bahr” (2004), and “Zaki Chan” (2005).

Helmy is also known for starring in “Zarf Tarek” (2006), “Gaalatny Mogreman” (2006), “Matab Senay” (2006), “Keda Reda” (2007), “Asef Ala El Azaag” (2008), “Alf Mabrouk” (2009), “Assal Eswed” (2010), “Bolbol Hayran” (2010), “X-Large” (2011), and “Laf w Dawaran” (2016).
