On Friday, Ittihad Jeddah announced that Egypt's defender Ahmed Hegazi underwent successful surgery on the cruciate ligament of his left knee.
Hegazi sustained the injury during the Ittihad's clash against Al-Fayha FC. The injury caused him to miss the final round of the Saudi Professional League against Al-Tai.
The Saudi club said in a statement: "Ahmed Hegazi underwent a successful surgery on the cruciate ligament of his left knee in the British capital, London, on Wednesday."
"The player will start a treatment and rehabilitation program in the coming period before returning to the team's training," the statement added.
Al Ittihad won the Saudi Pro League after a tough strive with Riyadh's Al Nassr for the title.
Hegazi became among the Jeddah-based club's historical captains who captured two titles with the club in one season.
