Ahmed Fahmy Unveils Release Date for “El Aref”

Egyptian actor-writer, Ahmed Fahmy unveiled, during an Instagram Live chat with fans, the release date for his highly-anticipated film, “El Aref” (The knower).

Fahmy announced that “El Aref” will be screened during the Eid al-Adha movie marathon in 2021, which was slated for screening last Eid Al-Fitr movie marathon but was postponed due to Coronavirus.

El Aref also stars Ahmed Ezz, Mahmoud Hemida, Carmen Bsaibes, Rakeen Saad, Ahmed Khaled Saleh, Mostafa Khater, and others.

Many celebrities are making a guest appearance including, Mohamed Mamdouh.

The film is written by Mohamed Sayed Bashir and directed by Ahmed Khaled Mousa. It is considered to be the largest production in Egyptian cinema, and the first Egyptian film to be shot in four countries, which are, Egypt, Italy, Bulgaria, and Malaysia.

The production company used four international stunt coordinator experts to implement dangerous scenes.

The 39-year-old also unveiled that he will be starring in his brother Karim Fahmy's latest film, "Dido".

It is worth mentioning that Fahmy, born on November 6, 1980, graduated with a degree in political science and economics.

He began his acting career during his college years in an independent film group called "Tamr Hendy", which produced many satirical films, among the most famous "Regal la Ta3rif Elmostaheel" a parody of the Egyptian movie "Eltareeq Ila Ilat" which quickly spread on the internet and was screened in many local cafes.

The parody had drawn the interest of writer Mohamed Hefzy, who was making the transition into movie production, at the time. After meeting with Fahmy, Hefzy decided to produce his work "Affiche we Tashbeeh," a TV series that made fun of various Egyptian films in each episode.

Later on, Hefzy produced Fahmy's film "Waraqit Shafra", which Fahmy wrote and starred, along with his Tamr Hendy co-stars and long time friends Hisham Maged and Chico. All 3 actors won the critic's choice award in 2003 for Best New Actors.

Fahmy is also known for writing the script of "Keda Reda" starring Ahmed Helmy, as well as "Sameer, Shaheer, & Baheer" in which the Tamr Hendy trio co-starred.

The actor is married to Egyptian actress, Hannah El Zahed. The couple tied the knot in a magical wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza, on September 11, 2019.

Many of the stars friends had attended the wedding including Karim Fahmy, the groom brother, and his wife, Ahmed Ezz, Ahmed Helmy, Amr Youssef and his wife Kinda Alloush, Karim Abdel Aziz, Mostafa Shaban, Ahmed Malek, Ahmed Dawood and Ola Roshdy, Salwa Othman, Chico, Akram Hosny, Youssef el Sherif and his wife Engy Alaa.

Football stars Ahmed Hassan and Sayed Moawad had also attended the wedding.

The wedding ceremony had also witnessed the performance of Egyptian superstar Mohamed Hamaki.

The newlyweds tied the knot one year after they announced their engagement. They were engaged in 2018 after a small love story, in Hannah’s home, amid the attendee of their families and close friends, on August 16.
