Ahly kept up their 100 percent start to the new season with an easy 2-0 victory away to Ghazl El-Mahalla in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday.

First-half goals from South African striker Percy Tau and Brazilian forward Bruno Savio ensured Ahly remained on top of the table with maximum of 15 points from five matches.

Mahalla, who made an impressive start by collecting 10 points from 12, tasted their first loss of the season after producing a feeble display at their own stadium in the industrial Nile Delta city that bears the same name.

Ahly's relentless early pressure resulted in a 17th-minute opener when Tau, whose stint at the Red Devils has been marred by injury problems, was picked out unmarked by a floated long ball from Ali Maaloul to side-foot under the poorly-positioned keeper from a tight angle.

Malagasy winger Paulin Voavy spurned a golden chance to bring Mahalla level, firing over the bar with the goal gaping after Ahly keeper Mohamed El-Shennawi spilled a tame shot into his path.

But that was as good as it got for The Peasants, with Ahly quickly re-assuming control with their swift intricate passing game.

The visitors deservedly doubled their lead on the half-hour mark as Savio opened his league account.

In-form winger Karim Fouad weaved his way on the left hand side of the area and pulled the ball back to the unmarked Brazilian, who drilled home from close range.

Ahly took their feet off the gas pedal in a slow-tempo first half, with Mahalla barely mounting any threats.
