Veteran Croatian star Luka Modrić showed once again that passion has no expiry date, inspiring AC Milan to a crucial 2–1 victory over defending champions Napoli at San Siro.

The result lifted the Rossoneri to the top of Serie A after five rounds of the 2025/26 season, level on points with both Napoli and Roma.

Modrić, a former Ballon d’Or winner, joined Milan this past summer on a free transfer and celebrated his 40th birthday earlier this month.

Yet, his performance against Napoli was nothing short of remarkable, proving he remains a game-changer for Stefano Pioli’s side.

Speaking to Football Italia, Modrić explained that his longevity comes down to pure love for the game: “I have adored football since I was a child. I never stopped being with the ball, and that love gives me the drive to continue.”

He added that winning trophies is a feeling that cannot be described and is what fuels his hunger for further success.

The Croatian icon stressed that his secret is not a special training method but a complete commitment built on discipline, sacrifice, and constant self-improvement. “Football always demands you prove yourself, no matter what you’ve already achieved,” he said.

Fans quickly took to social media to hail the midfielder’s performance as his passion lifts the whole team.

The icon's celebrations at the San Siro stunned the fans who raised the red and black flangs.

For many, the Croatian’s display was not just about technical brilliance but a reminder that leadership, resilience, and love for the game can be just as decisive as youthful talent.
