Dr. Randa Al-Adawi, a tourism expert, said the tourist nights which had been spent by the African tourists in Egypt increased 290% in the period between 2016 and 2018.

In statements to SEE on the sidelines of a press conference on revealing the African Organization for Aviation, Culture, Tourism, and Sustainable Development's (AFROACT) executive plan in Africa for 2020, Adawi noted that Egypt's positive image for the Africans is the biggest incentive to attract more African tourists to Egypt.

The tourism expert affirmed that the increase in number of flights and facilitation of tourist visas are important to overcome challenges which face the boost in the African tourism, noting that many countries tend to provide facilities through tour packages and programs to achieve higher tourism rates.

She pointed out that the African market is very interested in visiting Egypt's different destinations, calling for holding workshops and meetings with the African states, representing the tourists from both sides to set a comprehensive vision of the requirements and develop a complete plan to be implemented as soon as possible.

She called for the necessity of organizing visits of Egyptian tourist officials to the African market to study it well in order to develop strategies targeting the highest-income groups.

Adawi hailed AFROACT's efforts to boost intra-African tourism through its 2020 plan and in terms of Egypt's chairmanship of the African Union.
