AFCON 2023 to Kick off Tonight in Côte d'Ivoire

The 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations will kick off, tonight, in Côte d'Ivoire. This edition also will witness the participation of the Egyptian national football team.

This edition is the third in a row witnessing the presence of 24 teams, divided into 6 groups.

Regarding the opening contest, Côte d'Ivoire will host Guinea Bissau, at the Alassane Ouattara stadium in Abidjan, as part of the first-round competitions for Group A.

Moreover, the opening game will mark the participation of an Egyptian refereeing team led by Amin Omar. The team consists of: Amin Omar, a field referee, Mahmoud Abu Al-Rijal and Ahmed Hossam, two assistant referees, Mohamed Maarouf, the fourth referee, Mahmoud Ashour, VAR referee, and Mahmoud Al-Banna, an assistant VAR referee.

The Egyptian national team is set to start its competitions in the tournament on Sunday when they face Mozambique.
