AFCON 2023: S. Africa Defeat Congo DR. to Capture Bronze Medal

Yesterday, Saturday, South Africa defeated Congo DR to catch the bronze medal of the 2023 AFCON tournament 6-5 by penalties. 

Both teams were driven to penalties to end their 0-0 tie in the full time, and extra time. 

The game took place at Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

South Africa lost in the semi-final to Nigeria by penalties 2-1. The Bafana Bafana advanced to the semi-finals after ending the impressive campaign of Cape Verde.

While Congo DR. lost their semi-final game to Ivory Coast, the hosts, 1-0 in an energetic game.

The final of the tournament will take place tonight, Sunday, between Nigeria, and Ivory Coast at 10 pm (Cairo time).
