On Wednesday, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) announced that its joint show with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) will take place on June 25 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The event won't be the only AEW show to take place in Canada as the promotion announced a series of shows across Canada in the summer including AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage events.
AEW said in a statement: "After selling out the Coca-Cola Coliseum in minutes for AEW’s Toronto debut last October, Scotiabank Centre will play host to the “Forbidden Door” pay-per-view on Sunday, June 25, marking the second iteration of this groundbreaking event that pits the best and brightest talent on the AEW and NJPW rosters against one another."
“Canada has a rich wrestling heritage, and our debut in Toronto last year served as a special moment in our incredible relationship with fans throughout the country,” said AEW President Tony Khan.
He added: “Now, we’re not only entering new markets but also paying homage to the history of Canadian wrestling with unique moments like AEW House Rules taking place from the iconic Calgary Stampede."
Last year, AEW and NJPW presented the first edition of the Forbidden Door and it was hosted in Chicago, Illinois.
The event saw the participation of both promotions' top stars such as Jay White, Minoru Suzuki, Will Ospreay, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, Zack Sabre Jr, FTR, Jon Moxley, Sting, Adam Cole, Adam Hangman Page, Thunder Rosa, The Young Bucks, Orange Cassidy, Eddie Kingston, and Shingo Takagi.
