AC Milan have begun formal steps to secure the long-term future of midfielder Luka Modrić by opening negotiations over a contract extension ahead of the expiration of his current deal in June.
According to journalist Nicola Schira, Milan have offered the Croatian veteran a one-year renewal worth around €4.5 million per season, reflecting the club’s satisfaction with his impact since arriving in Italy.
Modrić joined Milan on a free transfer following his departure from Real Madrid last summer and has since brought experience and stability to the midfield, featuring regularly throughout the campaign.
The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has made 36 appearances this season, contributing two goals and three assists, while remaining a key figure in the team’s structure and leadership on the pitch.
