AC Milan have officially announced that Luka Modrić has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping the Croatian midfielder at the San Siro until June 30, 2027.

The renewal provides a major boost for new head coach Ruben Amorim as he prepares for his first season in charge of the Rossoneri following a disappointing 2025-26 campaign.

In an official statement, Milan praised the veteran midfielder's influence both on and off the pitch.

"AC Milan is pleased to announce that Luka Modrić has signed a contract for a further season until 30 June 2027. A key figure in the Rossoneri midfield since his arrival, Luka has brought his experience and quality to the service of the team, both on and off the pitch, with humility and great passion," the club said.

The 40-year-old made 37 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring two goals while continuing to play a leading role in Milan's midfield.

According to reports, Modrić's new deal is worth around €3.5 million per season, with additional performance-related bonuses.

The contract extension ends speculation over the Ballon d'Or winner's future, with reports previously linking him to retirement or a possible coaching role at former club Real Madrid.

Instead, Modrić will continue his playing career with Milan, where he is expected to play a key role in Amorim's rebuilding project as the club looks to return to the UEFA Champions League.

The Croatian midfielder is also preparing to bring his international career to a close, with plans to retire from Croatia duty following a farewell match scheduled for October 6.

AC Milan also confirmed that Modrić will continue wearing the No. 14 shirt during the 2026-27 season.
