Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, welcomed Armenia's official recognition of the State of Palestine, affirming that it is a courageous decision reflecting this friendly country's stance on the right side of history.
Jamal Rushdy, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that the expanding recognition of the State of Palestine reflects an increasing international conviction of the impossibility of continuing the occupation and the necessity of implementing the two-state solution.
He considered the recognition an important step towards realizing the Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967.
Rushdy conveyed the Arab League Secretary-General's appeal to all countries that have not yet taken this step to make the morally, legally, and politically correct decision to recognize the State of Palestine as soon as possible, considering that this represents an embodiment of the two-state solution and a real contribution to achieving peace and ending the occupation.
