The Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, called for a shift toward a "knowledge-based Arab economy" driven by innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship during the Ripple 2025 Summit on Oct. 20.

Speaking at the League's headquarters, Aboul Gheit stressed that entrepreneurship is a key engine for economic growth and vital for tackling developmental challenges like unemployment and achieving sustainable development. He hailed the summit, which supports entrepreneurship centers in Arab universities, as an important message to foster creativity and an environment for startups.

Aboul Gheit urged Arab university leaders to prepare entrepreneurs and innovators, not just graduates for the job market, emphasizing the responsibility to cultivate individuals capable of thinking "outside the box" and taking risks. He also highlighted the Arab League's work on a new "Arab Investment Agreement" draft to bolster inter-Arab trade and investment, which will incorporate modern concepts like sustainable and digital economies. He expressed confidence that the summit’s outcomes will genuinely enhance the work of entrepreneurship centers across the region.
