Aboul Gheit receives Vice-President of Libyan Presidential Council

Secretary-General of Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, received today, Wednesday, the Vice-President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they exchanged views on the latest developments in the Libyan arena.

Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, revealed that the Vice-President of the Libyan Presidential Council discussed the developments of the political process in Libya, reviewing in this regard the efforts of the Council to complete the national reconciliation project and the next steps in this regard.

The spokesman added that Aboul Gheit affirmed that the Arab League supports all efforts that would advance national reconciliation and  political process in a way that leads to preserving the unity of Libya, establishing security and stability in it, ending the foreign military presence. 

Rushdi stated that Abul-Gheit welcomed what the Vice-President of the Presidential Council mentioned regarding the reliance on the role of the League of Arab States, through its support for efforts to achieve national reconciliation, and the completion of the political process.
