Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit received on Sunday UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa Hamish Falconer to discuss regional developments, including the situations in Gaza and Sudan, the League said in a statement.
According to the League’s spokesperson, the talks focused on international efforts to consolidate a Gaza ceasefire and advance reconstruction plans. Aboul Gheit stressed the need for Israel’s full adherence to the truce and the central role of the Palestinian Authority in maintaining unity between Gaza and the West Bank.
The two officials also discussed the worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan’s El Fasher region. Aboul Gheit reaffirmed the League’s commitment to safeguarding Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity. Falconer expressed Britain’s readiness to enhance cooperation with the Arab League and support regional stability.
