Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed his sincere condolences to Libyan people and governmnet for the victims of Storm Daniel, which hit the country on Sunday.
In a statment posted on his official account on 'X', Aboul Gheit stressed his confidence in the ability of the Libyans to overcome the natural disaster, wishing safety for the people of this “dear” Arab country.
During the past few days, Libya declared a state of emergency due to the Mediterranean storm “Daniel,” which moved with full force into the country from the central Mediterranean, after it acquired tropical characteristics and left huge losses and major damage in Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria.
Pictures published and circulated on social media showed the effects of Storm Daniel on some streets in the city of Benghazi, while the state of emergency continues in the cities of eastern Libya.
