Secretary-General of the Arab League (AL) Ahmed Aboul Gheit denounced the terrorist attack that targeted two security men in the Tunisian city of Sousse.

In a statement, he expressed AL's solidarity with the Tunisian government and people in facing terrorism.

Moreover, Aboul Gheit expressed his condolences on the death of the officer and wished a speedy recovery for the wounded policeman.

It is worth mentioning that, police in Tunisia chased and shot dead three militants after they attacked police officers, killing one of them, in the coastal city of Sousse on Sunday.

“Terrorists stabbed two policemen at El Kantaoui district, in Sousse. One of them died. The police pursued the terrorists and killed them,” said Houssem Jbebli, a National Guard spokesman.

In 2015 Sousse was the scene of one of Tunisia’s worst attacks, when 38 people, most of them British tourists, were killed by a gunman.

The latest incident comes two days after a new government was sworn in.

The suspected militants rammed their vehicle into a National Guard checkpoint at a junction near the city’s port.
