Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit strongly condemned what he described as Iranian attacks on Arab countries, calling for a unified Arab stance to safeguard sovereignty and regional security.
Speaking during the 165th ministerial session of the Arab League held via video conference, Aboul Gheit said the region was facing an “exceptional moment” requiring clear and collective messages rejecting any violations of Arab states’ sovereignty.
He called for an immediate halt to the attacks and urged compliance with U.N. Security Council Resolution 2817, warning that threats to maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz pose risks to international peace and security.
Aboul Gheit reaffirmed the right of affected countries to defend themselves individually or collectively, stressing that the Arab League remains an essential platform for dialogue and coordination on issues of Arab national security.
