Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, received Hannah Tetteh, the new Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), on Wednesday. During the meeting, they exchanged views on the latest developments in Libya.
Aboul Gheit welcomed the efforts of the United Nations mission, stressing that the Arab League will continue to support all efforts aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of the Libyan people for stability and peace in this beloved Arab country, the Secretary-General's Spokesman said.
The spokesman explained that Aboul Gheit discussed with Tetteh efforts to activate international cooperation regarding the situation in Libya.
He also listened to the UN envoy's views on developments in Libya, where she emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination with the Arab League to support the return of the Libyan parties to resume constructive dialogue.
