MP Mohamed Aboul Enein, Chairman of the Egyptian European Council, said, "what we achieved in 6 years during President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's presidency is equivalent to what can be achieved in 20 years ."
Aboul Enein’s remarks came during his meeting today Thursday with members of the council in the presence of European Union Ambassador in Cairo Christian Berger and European ambassadors.
The prominent businessman added that Sisi managed to complete a lot of national mega projects in a very short period, including, the establishment of the world's biggest power plants for conventional and renewable energy and a new administrative capital equivalent to twice the size of Cairo.
He pointed out that Egypt, during the pandemic, is the only country in the Middle East to achieve a positive growth rate of 3.9%, noting that it is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
Aboul Enein confirmed that over the last six years, inflation rates were lowered from 33% to 4% and the unemployment rate ranged from 13% to 7.2%, while the the budget deficit went down to 7.3% from 14%.
He went on to say that Egypt is the biggest attraction for investment in Africa.
"We are entering the fourth industrial revolution, through a new generation of smart universities," he said. "We are developing them in cooperation with Japan, Germany, China and Russia."
The head of the Egyptian-European Business Council also calling on European companies to use Egypt as a gateway to produce and export to Africa and the Middle East and benefit from the lessons of coronavirus as well as persifying their supply chains to include countries close to Europe such as Egypt, that is in good location to attract these investments.
He urged the ambassadors to play a greater role in promoting cooperation, investment and trade opportunities that achieve the common interests of both sides.
